Plan Your Visit
In a single afternoon, where else can you spend time in Emily Dickinson’s parlor, view master works by John Singleton Copley or a rare Greek urn, revisit the beloved book illustrations of your childhood, learn about Yiddish culture and early New England life, and see the world-famous Hitchcock dinosaur tracks up close? Only here, in the Five College Area! Museums10, a partnership of seven outstanding college museums with three unique neighboring museums offers visitors an unparalleled opportunity to experience the art, books, and history of many periods and cultures. Clustered within the gently rolling countryside of Western Massachusetts (most being within the Five College area), the museums make an ideal destination for a day’s excursion or a weekend stay. Their collections, which encompass objects of antiquity to contemporary installations, appeal to every taste and age group. All of this comes in an area with outstanding restaurants, numerous lodging options and ample parking.
The members of Museums10 are ideally located as a destination in their own right or as a stopover on a trip to other points of interest in New England. Seven museums are clustered in the historic town of Amherst, just a few miles from Northampton, South Hadley, and Deerfield, where the other three museums make their home. The four towns can be reached easily via Interstate 91 and are nearly equidistant from Boston and the Berkshires and within an hour’s drive to the Vermont border.
